J-1 Insurance

Insurance minimums are set by the US Federal Government and as such, BelCham cannot make any exceptions. Proper insurance and documentation is a required condition of your application.

Please check that your insurance policy clearly indicates all of the required coverage outlined here.

Not all health insurance policies meet these coverage requirements. Exchange Visitors must choose a plan that meets or exceeds these requirements. In addition, many U.S. policies that may be provided by host companies will not include medical evacuation and repatriation insurance. Exchange Visitor will have to purchase medical evacuation and repatriation coverage separately.

Insurance policies must provide coverage for the entire duration of your your program. If your program is longer than one year, you may need to purchase a second policy as many providers will only allow purchase up to 364 days.
