In his new book “Tribalization. Why war is coming”, Koert Debeuf depicts war as an inevitable outcome of our world becoming more tribal, more authoritarian and less predictable. The author coins the term tribalization to describe this global process. His insights are based on history and personal experiences, including his previous political roles (i.e. advisor to the former Belgian Prime Minister and EU official).
Debeuf, historian (KU Leuven), is Director of the Tahrir Insitute for Middle East Policy Europe, Visiting Research Fellow at Oxford University and Associate Researcher at the VUB. He lived in Cairo from 2011-2016. From 2003 to 2008 he was chief advisor to the Prime Minister of Belgium.
